Shortened Race 5 didn’t offer much opportunity for BJR drivers

The Brad Jones Racing Team weren’t able to make gains in Race 5 after a Safety Car interruption that spanned the majority of the time certain event.

The race ran to 10 laps of the originally scheduled 14, with only a handful under green conditions

To make matters worse, Andre Heimgartner who led the squad in 13th was forced from the track in a lap 1 melee, dropping to last.

Once the Safety Car was called for an incident between Cameron Waters and Matt Payne, that really singled the end of any opportunity for all four drivers.

Jaxon Evans (SCT Motorsport) led Macauley Jones (Pizza Hut Racing) , Heimgartner and Bryce Fullwood across the line with the quartet sealing 18th to 21st.

Another difficult qualifying session set the team up for a challenge in Race 5.

However in the second of the sessions Middy’s Electrical driver Fullwood managed to qualify fifth for tomorrow's race eeking out some pace on a used tyre.

The fourth and final race of the the Melbourne SuperSprint is on track from 10:25am AEDT tomorrow.

"The first Qualifying was not too bad, managed to put a lap good enough together for 13th. So felt pretty alright after that and then the second one just couldn't get it done and ended up scraping a wall and not getting a time so  will start last. So that's a bit disappointing but yeah, this weekend we're just really struggling to put it all together and be competitive really as a whole. In that race there just got caught out by someone in front of me that half spun and had had to take avoiding action. Just a bit of bad luck in the race, but I think the car felt alright but we'll just have to try and get something from tomorrow's race and move on to the home event. Hopefully we can turn it around for that."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Middy's Electrical Camaro
“Not the ideal day today but we've got a good spot for tomorrow so we'll do our homework overnight and try again.”

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Camaro
"It's disapionting not to try what we wanted to try with the amount of laps we got in.But I felt like we were going in the right direction with a couple of things, so hopefully tomorrow is better."

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Logistics Camaro
"I think it's fair to say it was a pretty tough day. A couple of mistakes on my side in qauli one, just with the tyre phasing, didn't quite maximize it. So we obviously found ourselves starting down in the back of the grid for today's race, which was basically a non-event with how short it was. I mean, we obviously moved forward, but that was more so thanks to the people falling off the track in front of us. Quali two was not ideal. We made a swing on the setup, just to try something and it didn't quite work out in our favor."
