BJR looks to Taupo Super400 for a reset

After a difficult weekend at the Melbourne SuperSprint, Brad Jones Racing will look to reset at the next round.

The fourth and final race of the weekend saw all four of the BJR cars with similar issues, meaning that Bryce Fullwood heavily flat spotted his tyre just before the mid-way point of the race.

That meant that coupled with a 5 second penalty, that Fullwood dropped back significantly from his starting position of 5th.

Fullwood in the Middy’s Electrical Camaro survived the race to finish 18th, but fell back to 20th with his penalty.

Andre Heimgartner came through from the last grid spot to 17th, Heimgartner had glanced the wall in qualifying and hadn’t set a time so was out to make amends today but it wasn’t to be.

Jaxon Evans in the SCT Logistics Camaro led Macauley Jones (Pizza Hut Racing) across the line to round out the BJR crew in 18th and 19th.

With two Kiwis in the BJR stable, the New Zealand round presents an exciting opportunity for the whole team to start fresh with home support.

Supercars makes the international journey for 19-21 April to sample Taupo Motorsport Park for the first time.

"Tough race. I think obviously you don't need to talk too much about the results. But I think we have sort of learned mainly this weekend what our problem is that we have amongst all the cars. So in a way that's positive, we can look at solutions and try and figure out going forward what we're gonna do to improve our car speed."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Middy's Electrical Camaro
“Really tough weekend overall. It’s just been an uphill struggle since the get go, we did have some speed in quali and kind of found some direction there. We’ve got time before Taupo, so we’ll do the homework and hopefully find some speed for there.”

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Camaro
"Really tough weekend.  Went downhill from first practice, which is really unfortunate. All our cars are battling with the same issue we just need a look at what we're doing a little bit closer and change philosophies. Or discover a bit more of a different direction because we just seem to really be struggling and you spend so much time in a corner at AGP, because they are very long corners that our weaknesses are really showing up at this kind of circuit. So you know, there's a month until Taupo. Which is exciting because it's a new track for all of us and hopefully we can make some adjustments that we are happy with the. But yeah bit of work to be done."

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Logistics Camaro
"The race today was pretty uneventful for us. Obviously starting down the back, we were hopeful of making some places up and moving forward. Unfortunately, we didn't quite nail the car set up. So we're sort of all found ourselves still down the back and it's a bit of a frustrating weekend as a whole. So I think everyone's pretty happy to see the back end of it and we'll go through all the data over the next few weeks and find a fix for the problems that we're facing. It's a long road ahead, it's only round two so we'll keep chipping away."
