BJR Supras make gains at Queensland Raceway

All three of BJR’s GR Supras have made improvements over Saturday’s events at Queensland Raceway.

While the qualifying sessions were challenging for the crew, the team made good in-roads during both races and have crucial data ahead of tomorrow’s longer format race.

Qualifying for Race 28 kicks off at 10:55am AEST.

  • Cameron Hill (#14 Dare Racing GR Supra) qualified 23rd

  • Macauley Jones (#96 JWL Racing GR Supra) qualified 24th

  • Heimgartner moved forward two spots to finish in 12th, despite facing a misfire which the team were able to diagnose and fix before the second race of the day.

  • Hill’s side of the garage opted to stop early for two left-hand side tyres, while Hill had some pace in hand after the stop he was then fighting with those that had four fresh tyres later in the race. He still finished six positions higher than where he started.

  • Jones had the same challenge in the final 10 laps. The 96 Supra took two tyres on lap 16 and was then fighting those that took four tyres.

  • Hill was a lot more comfortable in the car for Race 27, and is overall happy with the direction the team are going. He finished 15th.

  • The team also made considerable changes to the JWL Racing GR Supra, which served Jones in the afternoon’s race. There’s still work to do to get the balance right ahead of Sunday.

QUOTEBOARD

SUPERCARS

Andre Heimgartner, #8 R&J Batteries Toyota GR Supra

“Solid day, some solid results. Not ultimately the speed we need, we can make it a bit better in qualifying. But at least we had a good solid race car.”

Cameron Hill, #14 Dare Racing Toyota GR Supra

“Reasonable day. We didn't have the qualifying speed we wanted, but the race car was actually pretty good. We made up spots in both races, 17th and 15th. So hopefully we can keep chipping away.”

Macauley Jones, #96 JWL Racing Toyota GR Supra

“Challenging day to be honest. Struggling a bit more with the balance. Made some improvements in the race but still need to follow the direction for tomorrow.”
