Productive pre-enduro test for BJR

Brad Jones Racing has made the most of the all-in pre-enduro Supercars test at Queensland Raceway.

Scheduled two days after the Ipswich Super 440, the test gave teams an essential opportunity to prepare for the upcoming enduro season, with a strong focus on co-driver mileage ahead of the first long-distance race at The Bend 500 next month.

BJR co-drivers Declan Fraser (#8 R&J Batteries), Brad Vaughan (#14 BJR), Jordan Boys (#96 Pizza Hut Racing), and Jack Smith (#12 SCT Motorsport) were back behind the wheel of a Supercar for the first time since the pre-season test in January.

Each made the most of the extensive track time to reacquaint themselves with the cars and work through a detailed program of checks and setup refinement.

The R&J Batteries Camaro was the fastest of the BJR quartet in both of the sessions clocking a 1:09.1696 in the afternoon which put them fthird on the timing sheets.

Both primary and co-drivers participated in a full schedule of runs throughout the day, which also included live pit stop practice.

It was the first opportunity for the team to have a live pit stop practice session featuring fuel tower refuelling since the 2023 season finale in Adelaide.

The team leaves Queensland Raceway feeling confident and well-prepared ahead of the two biggest events on the calendar: The Bend 500 (September 12–14) and the Repco Bathurst 1000 (October 9–12).

SUPERCARS QUOTEBOARD

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

"Ggood test day, I think it was well overdue for us just to try and get some answers to some things. So you never want to say that you've fixed anything, or you've made great progress, because often things don't translate. You sort of Jinx yourself. But I think it's been a good day to work through a few questions we've had, along with going through everything in the next couple of weeks with the car and different things, I feel like we've set ourselves up nicely for the Enduro season, and Declan's done a good job and been pretty speedy. We've done good driver changes and I feel more confident after today than before ."

Declan Fraser
Supercars co-driver, #8 R&J Batters Camaro

"It's so good to be back with the crew. Car felt really good, and I felt comfortable straight out the gate. So credit to the boys and girls what they did over the weekend to get it to that point. So for us, moving forward it'shead down for Enduro season. Andre's fighting for a finals position at the moment, so I'm gonna do everything in my power to make sure that he makes it. And I just can't wait to get out there and get cracking."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Brad Jones Racing Camaro

"Really good to do some testing here at QR. obviously, we have such limited testing now that it's really good to have a proper go at making some big changes with the cars. We don't have a lot of time at through the events normally. It's been really, really productive. I've been really happy with it. I feel like we've made a good step forward with the car. I'd love to start the weekend with the car that we've got now but it is what it is. And Brad [Vaughan, co-driver] did a good job in the car. He's got a heap of laps in really looking forward to Tailem Bend. Super keen to get into the Enduro season."

Brad Vaughan
Supercars co-driver, #14 Brad Jones Racing Camaro

"It's good to go through the motions. Really nice to get to do some driver change practice and pit stop practice and all that stuff. So nothing too exciting, just going through all the little steps to make sure we're ready. "

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

"The test day has gone pretty swimmingly. It's pretty vital for Jordan to get some laps, which has been good. We seem to like the car set up very similar, which was nice and have very similar feedback. Trying to do all the logistics stuff like the driver change practice, the fuel, which is always a key part to long events like we're about to do. We're all in all pretty happy with how the speed of the car is and the changes we're making. It's always interesting when you do finally get to the test day after only having sort of two in the season. So it's nice to be here."

Jordan Boys
Supercarss co-driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

""Good test day, more comfortable than I was in the car last year. Really positive about it. So feeling good. Macca and I's was driver changes were really good and no negatives."

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

"It's obviously been a pretty busy day with getting Jack up to speed and running through some processes, a couple of pit stop practices here and fuel and brake changes and also driver changes. But it's been kind of nice to be out of the car and listen to Jack's feedback and be on this side of the fence. And get a bit more understanding from what the guys are doing. But overall, I think it's been really positive. Everyone's making good progress, and hopefully we can take this hopefully into the enduros with some good car speed."

Jack Smith
Supercars co-driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

"It feels good to be back in the car and getting back in the swing of it, learning some new little bits and pieces that. Coming to grips with how the team's working and some procedural stuff. Overall it was a good day. I feel like I've got up to a reasonable speed and we're in a good starting point for the enduros."
