Heimgartner on a charge in Adelaide Saturday race

Brad Jones Racing’s Andre Heimgartner staged an impressive fightback in Adelaide, charging from deep in the pack to finish 12th.

A difficult qualifying session left the R&J Batteries Camaro starting 20th, but the Kiwi immediately went on the attack when the lights went out.

Running longer in his opening stint, Heimgartner climbed into the top ten before making his first stop.

A slow service cost the #8 Camaro valuable time, forcing Heimgartner to mount a second recovery drive.

By Lap 78 he had worked his way back to 12th, just outside striking distance of the top ten.

Macauley Jones showed solid pace throughout the race, making early progress in the Pizza Hut Racing Camaro and ultimately bringing it home in 15th.

Jaxon Evans battled car-balance issues across the afternoon, making for a challenging run for the SCT Motorsport crew.

He brought the #12 Camaro to the flag in 19th.

Bryce Fullwood displayed strong speed in qualifying, narrowly missing a spot in the Top Ten Shootout.

Starting 11th in the TRG Racing Camaro, a small mistake at Turn 8 had big consequences when he tagged the wall.

The resulting damage sent the #14 Camaro to the garage; although the crew was able to repair the car, Fullwood rejoined 17 laps down.

There’s one race remaining in the 2025 Supercars season, set for tomorrow afternoon on the streets of Adelaide.

Qualifying begins at 10:00 ACDT/local, ahead of the 78-lap finale at 14:50.

Super2

Dare Racing's Brad Vaughan narowly missed out on a podium at his home race during the opening hitout for Super2.

Vaughan launched out of the front row and settled in second, however, the South Australian made contact with the chicane after the Safety Car restart, damaging the front splitter.

Despite the damage, the young star was able to hold on to P4 across the line.

A heavy crash at Turn 8 has brought Cody Gillis’ weekend to an early end.

The karting gun was running inside the ten when he made heavy contact with the wall in the early stages of the race.

Thankfully, the #9 Perry’s Fuel Distributors ZB Commodore driver is okay, however his car has sustained too much damage and will not return on track tomorrow following assessment from the team.

One final race remains for the Super2 Series season at 13:50 ACDT.

SUPERCARS QUOTEBOARD

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

“Decent day. Qualified average but had good race pace. Had a bad pit stop but managed to get back to something decent. Stayed out of trouble though. Hopefully tomorrow we've got some greens lined up so we’ll see how we go there and hopefully we're going to execute on our speed we've had this weekend.”

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 TRG Racing Camaro

“I had good parts and bad parts of my day today. Qualifying was much stronger which was cool, and then unfortunately made a mistake in the race which took us out of contention for a really solid top 10. Sorry to all the boys and sponsors, looking forward to going again tomorrow.”

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

“Qualifying was an improvement today, I feel like we can make it a little bit better. The race wasn't too bad. I had a really average first stint, but the pace was pretty good in the race so I’m happy with the finish, but I think we can make an improvement and do it better tomorrow.”

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

“Qualifying was anti-climactic, especially when you're out in the first part. Didn't quite nail my lap. Spread it across two laps, which doesn't help. So, we started P22 which wasn't great. Race pace was average at best, struggling to find the speed in the car and the way to drive it, so a little bit frustrating but we kept our nose clean and learned some stuff for tomorrow and finished somewhere slightly further forward. So have another crack, last day of school tomorrow, hopefully it's better.”

SUPER2 RESULTS

Race 1
4 - Brad Vaughan, #80 Dare Racing ZB Commodore
DNF - Cody Gillis, #9 Perrys Fuel Distributors ZB Commodore

SUPER2 QUOTEBOARD

Brad Vaughan
Super2 driver, #80 Dare Racing ZB Commodore

“I started off the front row off P2 settled into P2 and then went for the moon at the first chicane after the safety car restart which damaged the front splitter a little bit. We lost a little bit of pace after that, but to finish P4 is still okay. It was good fun. Looking forward to tomorrow, starting off pole”

Cody Gillis
Super2 driver, #80 Perrys Fuel Distributors ZB Commodore

“Really tough day. I feel really sorry for everyone who helped make this happen this weekend and feel really bad for the team. The car is looking a bit second hand but myself, I’m okay. Huge thanks to Perry’s and Dare for coming onboard and supporting me, I really appreciate it.”
