BJR scores another two top ten results in Darwin

Andre Heimgartner and team-mate Bryce Fullwood both finished inside the top ten in Darwin during Sunday’s race.

The R&J Batteries driver had earnt himself an earlier Top Ten Shootout berth and had started 10th, it was a messy race start with the #8 briefly off track.

Heimgartner however held his nerve.

The #8 stopped slightly later then the rest of the three Brad Jones Racing cars and had pace to burn later in the race.

Coming through from 12th to then be fighting for 6th at the line.

The Kiwi dragged up the straight claiming 6th by just 0.0041s.

Local hero Bryce Fullwood rounded out his weekend at home with another top ten, having finished there in the last two races.

The Middy’s Racing Camaro had a clean race and was able to keep up the pace in the latter stages as well, coming home 10th.

Macauley Jones in the Pizza Hut Racing Camaro had a stellar start to the day, setting the second fastest lap in qualifying and getting a ticket to the Shootout.

He put in a lap good enough for 8th on the grid, unfortunately he was involved in a bit of a melee on the start and dropped back a couple of places.

The #96 also had a pretty decent race and Jones finished 14th.

The Brad Jones Racing crew now heads back down to Albury to prepare for the Townsville 500 (July 11-13)

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

"Car was very speedy. It of unfortunate and just a couple little things didn't go our way, which meant we couldn't secure fourth. But nonetheless, six was really good, a positive outcome. To sort of have the speed back and feel like we've got a bit of our mojo back is really, really, really, the main point there. Very happy with the weekend and looking forward to the remaining rounds hopefully this continues on and I think as a team we are only getting stronger, so exciting. "

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Middy's Racing Camaro

"Pretty decent weekend. Really good weekend for us here in Darwin, three races in the top ten and two really strong qualifyings yesterday. I feel like the team was doing a good job and we're starting to work these things out. So really looking forward to see what we can do in Townsville. Super proud to have had a good showing in front of all my home ground here at Darwin. "

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

"There's definitely some big positives to take out. Really stoked about qualifying. It's always nice to be in the Shootout and it was a big turnaround from yesterday where we weren't really super confident with our qualifying car. so that was a step in the right direction. Race didn't start off well, had a good start off the line, but being off the track in turn one wasn't ideal and sort of just struggle for tyre life. That was the biggest issue there, just keeping the rears in check. So that was a little bit difficult for me but all in all we got some big positives to take away."
