QR return leaves homework for BJR after Friday running

Brad Jones Racing are confident ahead of racing at the Ipswich Super 440 this weekend.

Across the two practice sessions on Friday, the BJR cars have shown promise and a bit of speed with Macauley Jones (Pizza Hut Racing)  inside the top 10 in the second Practice.

It’s the first time the Championship has hosted a competitive round at Queensland Raceway with the Gen3 cars, and while it’s the Queensland teams’ test track, it’s a rare trip for BJR.

There were plenty of positives to take from the day, with Andre Heimgartner (R&J Batteries Racing) and Jaxon Evans (SCT Motorsport) only a couple of hundredths off making the top ten in the first session.

Bryce Fullwood in the JWL Racing Camaro had a rather difficult day and the car #14 crew will go back to the drawing board overnight to look for answers in their car balance.

Qualifying for the two Saturday races in Ipswich kicks off at  9:35am AEST tomorrow.

Super2

A tricky day for our Super2 team with both drivers looking to find some speed overnight.

Brad Vaughan spent the day running on used tyres, which meant that the #80 Commodore isn't as far up the leaderboard as he would like to be.

The #80 Dormer HVAC Services ZB Commodore driver finished the practice sessions in 18th and 15th respectively.

Teammate Cody Gillis is feeling positive heading into qualifying tomorrow after finishing the two sessions in 23rd and 18th.

The pair have built a solid base to head into qualifying tomorrow at 0900 AEST.

SUPERCARS QUOTEBOARD

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

"It's always going to be challenging coming here for the first time  in six years, but I don't feel the base car's too bad on used tyres. I just wasn't able to extract it on the greens. But, not a bad day. Lots of learnings and lots of things to work on for tomorrow."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 JWL Racing Camaro

"Rough day for us today. Just had a lot of lot of issues, kind of everything - very, very tough day. I don't think the car's that bad. We just need a clean run at it. So looking forward to sleeping on it tonight and come back in again tomorrow and see what we can do."

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

"I think the car's not too bad. I feel like the driving style here is a little bit odd and has taken me a minute to try and get my head around it. Felt like we stayed very patient over the day and made some improvements, which was good, and the green tyre run was a pretty strong one for us. So see what the weather does for us tomorrow, and we'll press on "

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

“Nice to be back at QR. It's quite a challenging track in the Supercar, big braking zones, things like that. Felt like we're in a pretty good place after Practice 1, but yeah, didn't quite find what we needed in P2. So struggling a little bit at the moment, but we'll make some changes and have a deep dive into the data and hopefully go better when it comes to qualifying tomorrow morning."

SUPER2 RESULTS

Practice 1
18 - Brad Vaughan #80, Dormer HVAC ZB Commodore
23 - Cody Gillis, #9 DARE ZB Commodore

Practice 2
15 - Brad Vaughan #80, Dormer HVAC ZB Commodore
18 - Cody Gillis, #9 DARE ZB Commodore

SUPER2 QUOTEBOARD

Cody Gillis
Super2 driver, #9 DARE ZB Commodore

"Not a bad day, not a great day. Definitely a lot of positives to take out of it. I think we're definitely heading in the right direction. We'll wait and see what the weather's gonna be like tomorrow, to see what we do."

Brad Vaughan
Super2 driver, #80 Dormer HVAC ZB Commodore

"Day was good. We didn't have new tyres like everyone else, so we look worse than we actually are. So hopefully tomorrow that evens out and we'll be back up the front again. "
