BJR zeroes in on race preparation on Saturday in Bathurst

Brad Jones Racing has used the two final practice sessions at Mount Panorama to fine tune their race set up ahead of lights out tomorrow at the legendary circuit.

With all four cars already having their grid positions decided in Friday’s qualifying, the crew could turn their full attention to longer runs with higher fuel loads.

Both main drivers and co-drivers across the four cars logged a considerable amount of laps across the two practice sessions.

The Automotive Superstore Camaro has found a nice window with their race pace and the crew are in good spirits ahead of the race.

While the other three cars are looking for that extra edge for the 1000km epic tomorrow.

Competitors will take to the track for Warm Up in the morning (8:30 AEDT) before lining up for the 2025 Bathurst 1000 (11:45 AEDT).

Super2

Brad Vaughan has scored himself a top five result for Brad Jones Racing, finishing fourth in this afternoon’s race.

The #80 Dormer HVAC Services ZB Commodore driver was quick in Qualifying putting himself on the second row to start the race.

With a strong defence, the young driver held off multiple cars behind him.

On the other side of the garage, Cody Gillis had a strong qualifying session lining up 12th to start the race.

Unfortunately, a racing incident on Lap 1 ended his race after his #9 Bowser Bean ZB Commodore could not be restarted.

The final round of the Super2 series takes place at the Adelaide 500 on November 27-30.

SUPERCARS QUOTEBOARD

Andre Heimgartner
Supercars driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

“Pretty tough day to be honest. I’m just struggling with the car right now – I have no idea what we need to do, but hopefully we can figure something out overnight. Eyes on tomorrow."

Declan Fraser
Supercars co-driver, #8 R&J Batteries Camaro

“Another challenging day for us. Worked a lot mainly on just our race car for the day. We didn't really focus on doing too many fast types, just long and consistent runs. Struggled a little bit with it but the boys and girls have worked pretty hard overnight making sure that we got a decent car come race time tomorrow."

Bryce Fullwood
Supercars driver, #14 Automotive Superstore Racing Camaro

“I think our race car looks quite good. Practice was in sunny conditions today which could be quite different to tomorrow, but in today’s conditions, I felt the pace was strong and we’re happy with that. We’ve obviously got a lot of positions to make up tomorrow – it’s going to be a tough day, but I’m looking forward to it and ready to see what we can do."

Brad Vaughan
Supercars co-driver, #14 Automotive Superstore Racing Camaro

“A lot of race running today, getting ready for tomorrow. We’ve still got a fair bit of work to do, so we’re making sure we’re comfortable. Hopefully, fingers crossed for some wet weather to throw a bit of extra challenge into the mix."

Macauley Jones
Supercars driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

“Practice today wasn’t too bad. We were mainly focused on proper race running. I don’t think the conditions today will be the same as tomorrow, so that makes it a bit tricky to know exactly where we stand. All in all, I’m reasonably happy with the balance. I feel like we can still improve it a little so we’ll make some changes tonight, figure out the strategy and get into the big race tomorrow."

Jordan Boys
Supercars co-driver, #96 Pizza Hut Racing Camaro

“Practice was good today. I feel like our cars are solid – around a top 10 car, which we’re really happy with. We made some changes; I’m not sure if we went forward with them, but overall, I’m happy and can’t wait for tomorrow."

Jaxon Evans
Supercars driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

“A busy day today. We did stop practice in the morning, the co-driver session for Jack, and then Practice Six where we worked through driver changes, brake changes and a few other things. All in all, it was a full-on day but I felt like we made some good progress with our race car. Looking forward to seeing how we go tomorrow. There’s some study to do overnight but I’m confident that whether it’s wet or dry, we’ll be able to move our way forward.”

Jack Smith
Supercars co-driver, #12 SCT Motorsport Camaro

“Practice was the first session today. It was tough but productive. Lap times weren’t quite where we wanted them to be, but by the end of my session – and by the end of the last session today – I felt like we’re heading in the right direction. All the procedural stuff went well, pit stops were solid, and overall we’re ready for tomorrow."

SUPER2 QUOTEBOARD

Cody Gillis
Super2 driver, #9 Bowser Bean ZB Commodore

“Had an alright start to the day. Went better in qualifying which was good and then we just got sandwiched into the fence on Lap 1 of the race. track of Adelaide? I’m keen to have a few sleeps and then we should be right for Adelaide. Massive thanks to Bowser Bean for hopping on the car this round. It always looks good when they're here on board with us. Big thanks as well to Dare and Allen’s and the whole BJR crew for all the support.”

Brad Vaughan
Super2 driver, #80 Dormer HVAC Racing ZB Commodore

“Good day in the Super2 car. Managed to come away with fourth place which was probably the best we could have done. First Commodore home or B class win as I'm calling it. We made a lot of progress over the weekend, Friday running being wet, sort of hampered the sessions. And as we've sort of done all year, we tuned it up over the first day and then we were a lot better today. So few positives out of that and I’m keen for the last round in Adelaide.”
