BJR Turns Focus to Race Day at The Bend
Brad Jones Racing has had a tough Saturday at Tailem Bend, with qualifying results not coming to the three car team.
Andre Heimgartner was the team’s highest qualifier, securing 19th position in the #8 R&J Batteries GR Supra.
Cameron Hill and Brad Vaughan are still chasing the right balance in the #14 Farmers Union Iced Coffee GR Supra. The crew will dive into the data overnight to find answers ahead of tomorrow’s 500km race.
The #96 AlphaTheta GR Supra has shown reasonable race pace during its longer runs, which bodes well for Macauley Jones and Jordan Boys.
With the grid now set, The Airtouch 500 At The Bend will get underway at 1:45pm ACST/2:15pm tomorrow.

SUPERCARS
Andre Heimgartner, #8 R&J Batteries Toyota GR Supra
“Worked on the race car today. Feel like we made some progress. Qualifying was very close but just not quite the speed we needed. I think across the board is a bit like that in the Supras. Hopefully we have a good race car for tomorrow.”
Co-driver | Bryce Fullwood, #8 R&J Batteries Toyota GR Supra
“Not so sure about our day today. We didn't qualify as good as we had hoped to, but we also probably spent most of our time this weekend working on our race car and we were probably less geared up for qualifying so I don't think the race car is too bad. Hopefully we can have a good race tomorrow. Hopefully I can pass a few cars, so Andre’s job’s not so hard. But looking forward to it, we’ll see how we go.”
Cameron Hill, #14 Farmers Union Iced Coffee Racing Toyota GR Supra
“Another tough day today. We’re really struggling with pace in our car and have struggled across the weekend so far. We’ll have a look at everything tonight so that we can come out with a speedy car for the race and try make up some spots.”
Co-driver | Brad Vaughan, #14 Farmers Union Iced Coffee Racing Toyota GR Supra
“From the co-driving point of view on car 14, felt like I got really comfortable in the co-driver session. Then did some really good driver change practice. Unfortunately for Cam, it unravelled a bit in qualifying. So, hoping for some rain or something to spice tomorrow.”
Macauley Jones, #96 AlphaTheta Racing Toyota GR Supra
“I think we made some progress but just didn't quite get it right in qualifying. So, a little bit disappointed with where we ended up. I felt like the potential was a bit better, but it's a pretty tricky track and setup at the moment to get right. I think there's some potential there, but we’ve got a race tomorrow to move forward. It's a long day with some rain around potentially, which will be fun. All in all, I think not a shocking day, there was potential there.”
Co-driver |Jordan Boys, #96 AlphaTheta Racing Toyota GR Supra
“Bit of a tough end to what otherwise felt like a fairly strong day. Getting a better direction with the car but it’s easy to miss the window for us at the moment. Very keen to get our enduro campaign going tomorrow”
