Brad Jones Racing and Dunlop Racing are excited to add another driver to their 2019 line up. West Australian Jake Burton will represent BJR & Dunlop Racing as one of the twelve drivers taking part in the 2019 Gfinity Supercar Eseries, which is set to get underway in September.
The 2019 Gfinity Supercar Eseries will have 6 rounds compromising of three sprint races (with the exception of a 250km Bathurst race in the lead-up to the actual Bathurst 1000 event). Drivers will tackle a combination of the best local and overseas circuits in the pursuit of a $10,000 prize at the end of the season.
20-year-old Burton started in go-karts at the early age of 7, where his passion for motorsport grew, along with the desire to win and achieve success behind the wheel.
Jake is recognized from his on-track achievements; which include back-to-back Western Australian karting championships and taking the win at the 2017 Aussie Driver Search competition. This win propelled him into the Toyota 86 Series where he finished 13th overall in his rookie season and led him to meeting the Joneses.
Jake “I met Macauley last year through the Aussie Driver Search program and that’s really how all of this came about. For Brad and Macauley knowing my history and successes, it was one of those conversations that has now led to this. It’s quite exciting and I’m thankful for their support, including the team at Dunlop.”
“Back when I added sim racing alongside my karting in 2013, the Supercar series was held every Monday night, with around 50 people watching online. It’s amazing to see how far it has come; the Gfinity Supercar Eseries is incredibly well-setup with high quality technology and will be very entertaining for the fans. This is next level.”
Jake has been a regular competitor in the V8 Supercar Online Premier Series (V8 SCOPS), claiming his first and highly notable win at last years’ Watkins Glen 250 lap race. The final ten laps kept everyone on the edge of their seat; with Jake keeping his cool to cross the line as the victor.
“There is going to be some great competition in this years’ series. Everyone is highly competitive and puts in a lot of time behind the wheel. Knowing that the Supercar guys spend a lot of time on their sims too, I know they’ll be watching with interest too.” Jake concluded.
Brad Jones added “Jake has real life experience behind the wheel; contesting in the Toyota 86 Series as part of the Supercar events in recent years. This track experience is something that makes him stand out from the other Eseries drivers; and no doubt his time behind both wheels will help him in the competition. The Dunlop team, BJR crew and I are looking forward to seeing what he can achieve, and we have no doubt he’ll be one to watch.”
Every round of the Eseries will be broadcast live on FOX Sports, with full replays available on the eseries.supercars.com website after they have concluded.
