RECAP AND WORD FROM THE DRIVERS

The Alliance Truck Parts & Freightliner Racing duo of Tim Slade and Nick Percat got underway at the Melbourne 400 event today, with drivers and teams relishing the cooler yet sunny conditions at the Albert Park circuit. Drivers had two practice sessions to start their day before qualifying.

The qualifying sessions were short and sharp, with two back to back ten-minute sessions for drivers to set their fastest time. The drivers must race the clock as there is only time to complete 2 or 3 laps, so it’s all about getting in a crucial warm up lap, then making the next one count!

Tomorrow will see the another two back to back qualifying sessions, to determine the starting orders for the final two races of the Melbourne 400 event, followed by the first race of the weekend.

TIM SLADE

“We predicted the Mustangs would come out strong here today and that’s exactly what they did, setting the fastest time in each session.”

“We threw a few changes at both the Freightliner and Alliance Truck Parts cars today knowing it was all about getting them to be fast in qualifying. We struggled in the practice sessions getting the balance of the car right and with ten-minutes on the clock for the qualifying sessions the car needs to be on point. I’m happy we got there for qualifying and will be starting the first two races of the weekend from inside the top ten.”
