THE WORD FROM NICK

Newcastle set another stunning scene for the first 250km street battle to get underway today. The racing had its fair share of dramas, with plenty of door to door action bringing out multiple safety cars. For Nick he was fast, consistent and moved forward through the race, brining the unmissable orange Timken Commodore home in 8th. It was a great result for the Brad Jones Racing trio, with Tim Slade spraying champagne on the podium (3rd), Nick in 8th and Tim Blanchard not too far behind in 12th.

NICK

“The Newcastle track is scary, in a good way! Just before heading out for the final run in qualifying I noticed my breathing was a little different to usual, and I had to calm myself down just a little bit. This track has certainly got our attention.”

“Your driving up against walls everywhere, the backdrop is awesome, that scenic part driving down along the beach is one of the hardest parts of the circuit. Every time you do a quick, clean lap is pretty rewarding.”

“We’ve closed the gap to the guys in front a little bit, and even though this is a new track it’s super competitive as you can see in the times, its pretty cool to see.”

“It was awesome to see team-mate Tim Slade score a podium finish today and as always I was pretty quick to get down there and celebrate with the team. To have both the Timken and Freightliner Commodores finish in the top ten today was great for the team, and we definitely want to do it again tomorrow!”
