THE WORD FROM NICK

The crowds turned out in force today for the first ever Supercars event in Newcastle – the Coates Hire Newcastle 500. With 2 x 40-minute practice sessions on today’s agenda, the challenge for the drivers was to tackle the new street circuit, in both learning the circuit and pushing themselves and the cars to find the limits.

Nick

“My first lap out I was back on the radio to the team saying this place is like a rollercoaster. How awesome.”

“The practice sessions were all about learning the track and then pushing to the limits. In the first practice session we would’ve been at about 90% of our potential; driving a Supercar around here you can feel all the bumps, and the car pops in different areas, so you’re dealing with that and trying to find the best line, get the braking points right.”

“It’s a big learning curve. The more laps we do the better it will be, the time will be in making the car flow more and putting all the sectors together. I’m excited for the two 250km races ahead.”
