THE RECAP

It was an eventful day for ACDelco Racing at Sydney Motorsport Park. An issue in qualifying saw Nick start from down the order in 19th position. On the race start there was contact between a couple of cars in front, where Nick had his ‘Days of Thunder’ moment, driving through the smoke and dust from the colliding cars, making it safely through. He then pressed on to get as high as 13th position and when a safety car was called to clear debris on track, the trouble began.

Nick was stuck wide to avoid Van Gisbergen who was spun on the restart, then pushed off track with less than ten laps to go. The off track excursion saw Nick collect debris which quickly sent the engine temperatures through the roof. He had to make an extra pit stop to remove the debris, and returned to the track with only two laps to go.

Nick finished in 25th position which is not a reflection of how fast this car is, we know this because Nick recorded the fastest time of the race and broke the lap record with a 1:30.5482s! Hopefully tomorrow provides Nick and the ACDelco Commodore with the chance to shine!
